Foldover Angel Wing Potholder Free Crochet Pattern!

You know how you always have to fold a potholder to grab the hot item? Here is a potholder designed to fit your hand perfectly when you grab it! And if you love angels, so much the better!

This pattern is easy enough for a confident beginner. It is crocheted double-sided for extra protection. When you crochet a potholder, I always recommend using 100% cotton for durability and safety.

2 balls of Peaches n' Creme or Sugar n' Cream 100% cotton yarn in your choice of colors OR any worsted weight 100% cotton yarn

Crochet hook size G or your preferred

Please Note: This potholder will curl as you make it. That is intended.

Directions (Make TWO)

CENTER

Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring.

Round 1/

Ch 1, work 8 SC in ring. Join with sl st to first SC.

Row 2/

Ch 16, work 1 SC in 2nd ch from hook and in each chain (15 SC). Slip stitch into next SC on round 1. CH 1, turn.

Row 2-A /

Work 1 SC in next 15 SC. Leave last SC unworked. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2-B /

SC in back loop only of next 14 SC. SC in last SC. Slip stitch into next SC on round 1. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat Rows 2-A and 2-B until you only have one SC left of the 8 SC's in Round 1. Leave the last SC on Round 1 unworked, ending with the slip stitch in the 7th SC. Fasten off.

JOINING

Place the two potholders together matching all stitches. Holding BOTH colors of yarn together, work 1 SC in each stitch around. Work SC-ch 1-SC in each corner. On the ribbing edges, work one SC per row. Work around and join to first SC.

Row 2

Ch 1, work 1 SC in each stitch around. Work SC-ch 1-SC in each corner space. Join to first SC.

HANGING LOOP

Ch 20, work 1 SC in each CH. Slip stitch to base of first chain of loop. Fasten off, weave in ends.
